Staying fit and healthy with your dog, it’s all about the Meals, Mindset and Moves, for both YOU and the dog!
Humans and their dog companions certainly have a lot in common! We both love sleep ins, we both love food and let’s be honest, we both love a good back scratch! But beyond these simple everyday pleasures, our similarities go much deeper when it comes to feeling fulfilled, feeling good, and being healthy on the inside and out. And it comes down to my mantra, the meals mindset and moves.
When both humans and their dogs find synergy between the meals, mindset and moves, we are giving ourselves the best chance to live a long, healthy and happy life. Lets take a look at what each of the three m’s means and how it relates to us, our dogs and the power of when they come together.
Well, first and foremost it means celebrating nutrient-dense real food and ditching foods that can cause us harm or inflammation. We need to source our macro and micronutrients from high-quality sources that provide our cells with energy in order to make each and every meal count, as they are an investment in our long-term health. That rings true for both human nutrition and canine nutrition, and when we celebrate this nutrient density, we are giving our bodies and our pets the best chance to perform at our optimum. Plus, when we feed our dogs good food, it makes us feel good inside, knowing we are doing a great thing for our beloved pets. And this helps us have a positive mindset.
We can eat all the healthy foods in the world but unless we cultivate positive mindset techniques that will support us mentally on life’s journey, it won’t counts for much. Because healthy food is just one aspect of the three m’s. Doing activities that make us happy, setting time aside for family, and switching off digital devices, are all ways we can work towards a healthy mindset. And our four legged friends benefit directly and indirectly. The more time we do activities with our pooch the happier we both are, plus spending time with family and our pets, along with putting our devices down. This means more time outside, living life, connecting with your dog, which in-turn builds strong emotional wellbeing for them.
Now humans and dogs can eat all the healthy food in the world and work on cultivating a positive mindset, but unless both humans and dogs use the gift of our bodies we simply won’t reach our full potential. So, the key is for us to find a way to move each and every day, that you actually look forward to. Even better if dogs and their owners can do it together for even more mental stimulation for our pets. It will help us release the feel good endorphins, help us balance out our nutritional intake and keep us mentally activated for better stress management and sleep quality. Find something you love to do that moves your body that includes your dog and you’ll be set for life!
